The village of Pečarovci lies at the point where the first hills of Goričko begin. The village extends to the left and right of a stream called Pečörovski Potok. Like the majority of villages in the Goričko region, Pečarovci is dispersed among hills and hamlets. Thanks to the village potters the name Pečarovci has become known even outside Prekmurje. Pottery is also at the origin of the name Pečarovci (from pečar, literally "stove-maker"). Only two potters remain in the village but they are still young and one of them is already assisted by his daughter, so there is no danger of this craft dying out any time soon. Pottery attracts many tourists to Pečarovci but it is not the only thing that attracts them. The centre of a village is usually the church, but in Pečarovci there are two churches: the Catholic church in Sebeščan and the Protestant church in Gorenjšček. An extremely active volunteer fire brigade operates in the village and one of its major recent projects, in which the other villagers also helped, has been the renovation of the fire station/community centre, improving its appearance and functionality. Pečarovci also has an active cultural, tourism and sports association and a five-a-side football club. The biggest acquisition of the latter is without a doubt floodlighting, making evening matches and tournaments possible. The changing rooms and bar by the pitch have also been renovated. In recent years the village has gained quite a number of asphalt roads and we hope that it will soon be the turn of the other roads in the village to be asphalted. The event that draws the biggest crowds in Pečarovci is a fair known as "Topla Prouška" by the church of St Sebastian. Particularly if the weather is fine, this is an event not to be missed. Many visitors come from other villages and from further afield. Another popular event that attracts visitors from far and wide is the traditional skiing competition for the Vestnik Trophy. This competition is held every year, weather permitting. It is worth underlining the enthusiasm shown by the villagers when it comes to organising these competitions. On occasion the competition has only been possible because snow has been transported from all over the village to ensure that there is enough snow for skiing on the Sunday. The parish festival at the Lutheran church in Gorenjšček also attracts quite a crowd. Another traditionally well-attended event is the Mayday Bonfire organised by the tourism, cultural and sports association. There is always something going on in Pečarovci, which means that the village is well worth a visit.
