Besnica is a pretty little village not far from Kranj. It has a subalpine climate. The village is surrounded on all sides (except the north, where it is bounded by the river Sava) by subalpine hills covered with mixed forest. The plentiful forests make Besnica very popular with mushroom-pickers. Thanks to its favourable position, the valley is protected from the industrial influences of Kranj, and there is no industry in Besnica itself. As a result, the air is pure and the countryside is unspoilt and ideal for walks, skiing, recreation, climbing the nearby hills, picnics, etc.
