In its history the territory of Slovenia has been settled by various cultures that have left numerous traces. Rich archaeological finds cover
all the major historical periods: from objects dating to the Stone, Iron and Copper ages to ancient, early Slav and medieval finds. Many of them are important on the world scale, such as the
oldest whistle in the world, found at
Divje Babe cave near Idrija. It is a full 55,000 years old. Numerous finds are kept in
museums, while many are on view in
archaeological parks or
sites arranged for visitors.
