BEŽEK VILA, Koroška cesta 27
The plans for the building were drawn in Plečnik’s seminar by the client’s brother, architect Niko Bežek in 1936. The pro-ject complied with the needs of an unmarried physician (surgery with a waiting room on the ground floor, an apartment on the first floor). When designing the building with a single-pitch roof, Plečnik used the motif of a prominent entrance portal (separating the front of the building with pilasters).
FOUNTAIN (1952 - 1959), Vodopivčeva ulica
The architect Jože Plečnik had planned to make a monumental entrance into the town. He transformed the steep slope into a staircase and replaced the former well (called “šterna”) with an obelisk, at the top of which there is a bronze rooster from which the water runs into stone, terraced vessels. The fountain is an interpretation of the Garden of Eden at Hradčany, Prague.
PREŠEREN'S THEATRE , Glavni trg 6
The theatre used to be a national hall but was rebuilt in 1952 according to the architect’s plans. The most visible change was made on the entrance, to which a monumental arcaded hallway and characteristic lamps were added.
