 The Avsenik Museum in the village of Begunje na Gorenjskem will take you to the world of Slovene popular folk music. Get acquainted with the intriguing story of this world music phenomenon in the house where its legendary pioneers, Slavko Avsenik and Vilko Ovsenik, were born. The Avsenik Museum, located within the confines of the Avsenik Restaurant complex in the centre of Begunje, presents the development and history of the Avsenik Brothers Ensemble. The legend of Slovene popular folk music, Slavko Avsenik, and his older brother, Vilko Ovsenik, are the pioneers of a music genre that took the name of Begunje and Slovenia onto the global stage. A short documentary on the Avsenik Brothers Ensemble in Slovene, German, English and Italian is screened in the museum. Upon prior request, guided visits in Slovene, German and English can be arranged for organised groups.
