Krka

The River Krka is best known for its numerous natural cascades over which its water rushes into transparently green pools. It is most colourful in spring, when the fresh green vegetation emphasises the characteristically green colour of its pools. It is the only Slovenian river where all fish belts follow one another in its 93-kilometre length. From its source downstream, it is wonderful trout territory with brown trout and rainbow trout. At Zagradec, they are joined by the grayling, the huchen, as well as cyprinid species. The Danube roach, nase and chub are resident all the way to its inflow into the Sava. Below Novo mesto, there are excellent places to fish for pike, wels and chrup.
