The original church on Mount Kurešček (833 m) was built in the 13th century. Before the reforms of Emperor Joseph II, the Brotherhood of the Queen of Peace had its seat here.
The church was destroyed during World War II, and the renovations begun in 1990 concluded on August 30, 1992, with a consecration ceremony.
The restored church again invites pilgrims from Slovenia and other countries to Kurešček.
