The area of the village of
Begunje is rich with archaeological sites. These can be visited on the Lamberg Trail, which derives its name from the prominent noble Lamberg family who were once owners of Kamen Castle for several centuries.
From the car park across the road from the
Pri Jožovcu Restaurant, the trail takes the visitor past the Katzenstein Mansion and across the meadows to the settlement of Krpin. Reaching the asphalt road, turn left and then right onto a marked trail into the forest. Traversing the forested slope, the trail passes by the Njivice and Zijalka archaeological sites and, a little further on, by Devil's Castle and
Kamen Castle.
After having explored Kamen Castle, you can either return to Begunje along the road or you can continue along the trail above the castle into the Draga Valley, at the end of which you can regain your strength in the Draga Inn and return to Begunje along the trail on the opposite bank of the stream.
